Let’s begin planning!!! What do you want your wedding to look like, your vision and how would you like the outcome to be? Beautiful, incredible, breathtaking! But what does that really look like. For one bride beautiful might be the tender moments between her and her mother on her wedding day or the tear drop she are wipes off her groom’s face when she see him for the first time that day. To the next bride it might be a nightmare if she doesn’t get along with her mother or she hates when people cry. Be specific on what your vision looks like. This is why setting goals for your wedding is so significant and magical because you can have the day of your dreams. Are you crazy? Setting goals for a wedding? I set goals for my business or career but for a wedding? Yes, anything you plan should be thought out to the fine details of how you want to say your vows to how you would like your wedding night to end. You are planning a huge event, treat as if you are doing a project for work to present to an important client or a final exam that has a presentation and it will be 75% of your grade, your wedding is just as detailed as any important time of your life. You won’t get graded or lose your job, if it goes south, but it won’t be the memory you were expecting. I know it doesn’t hum romance, but it can be if you choose it to be. Whatever you want for your wedding can happen exactly or better if you plan it. Make a list of at least 100, yes, you heard me at the very least a hundred things that you want for your wedding day. (It should be a 1000 things and more if you really want a killer wedding, be greedy it’s your wedding day). You don’t have to do it all in one sitting, but once you get started you can’t stop. It’s “The Secret” of planning your wedding, but to include the things you want and watch them manifest. Remember your reticular activator? Once you write it down your brain want to find it for you, your brain likes to solve problems. You will be more tuned into what you want instead of being on autopilot hoping and praying that you get what you want or just taking what you get. Brian Tracy, a world renounced personal motivational speaker on goal setting said, “at least 65% of everything you put on a list will come true within a year”. But I don’t have a year, well get started now!!!! Okay, I’ll try it, but I don’t know where to begin Annette… just start off with something as simple as this 1. I want my family and the groom’s family to get along famously, just laughing and having a great time every time they are together. 2. I want to find my Vera Wang dress at $2,000.00 instead of $10,000.00 3. I want to have the kiss of a lifetime on my wedding day. 4. Etc… it’s your turn to write down what you want. Be sure to put it in the positive and be very detailed as possible. Share your list with me I want to read it and with other brides. Let’s make it happen, this is your candy store list for your wedding day and your life. I’ve done lists like this before and you will be surprised at the incredible things that you get just by putting it on a list. I’ve had things that I only fantasized about happen in my life. I know it sounds crazy, but it’s real. What will it hurt to try and see what happens? Some of your goals will materialize quickly and some will materialize slowly but they will come true if you work towards them. 65% is awesome compared to 0%. Autopilot is for Bridezillas that have no focus or direction, goals are for Cinderellas with dreams that come true.
Now when I refer to Cinderella, I am speaking of the modern day educated professional, 40-60 hour working woman, college student, premed, MBA or MFA. The bride that is juggling more than just planning her wedding day. The bride that has hopes and dreams for her future. This bride wants to leave her mark or make a difference in this world. The bride that still believes in romance and the magic of falling in love. She dreams of a wonderful life. Loves watching “Chick flicks” because it reminds you of how you fell in love with your groom. This is the Cinderella bride that I am referring to. I am not expecting you to be any different than you are but allow your femininity to come out and play. You work the rest of you time to get ahead and live in this deadline, stressful, political, judgmental, sometimes negative, man’s world, 9-5 days where you have to be “ON” and be who ever “They” need you to be. This is the time to be you the beautiful, incredible, stunningly gorgeous, gifted, talented, intelligent, feminine you. Don’t let those lines cross. When they do Bridezilla is summoned to create chaos and destruction to your wedding plans. Don’t be everything everyone wants you to be on your wedding day. Use the plethora of wedding information as a guide line and don’t let it misguide you into believing that it is the truth. Trust yourself, you will make the right decisions. Remember that feeling of falling in love as you plan your wedding day and what love means to you. A wedding is the celebration of two people falling in love and creating the dream of being together for the rest of their lives. Experiencing life together, sharing life together, facing difficulties together and coming out on the other side, having the joy of children, growing old together, enjoying the good things in life together. This is the Cinderella life!!!

Keeping up with new wedding trends and preparing for my next year’s brides, I came to find out that my favorite venue… the beautiful outdoors is the new trend. Also lots of details, creativity and Rustic-Chic concepts.
Whether you are into Country Weddings or not, keep this trends in mind while planning your wedding. Just add your personality and style to have an unique, fun and elegant wedding that commemorate the both of you!
Outdoor Weddings
Celebrating out in the open is so special, unique, fun and comforting! Even though it would be hard to predict the weather, having an outdoor wedding that fits your style and theme is a fabulous way to give your guests an unique experience. Not to mention that it can be easier in your pocket. The only thing is that you must remember to have a plan B, just in case the heavens would like to bless you with a little rain.

Bringing Past to the Present
Vintage is definitely back! The growing trend is to bring into your celebration details that were used in the past. Create an atmosphere of evocative romance with vintage vases, flowers and light, including your ancestors pictures in the decorations. If possible, recycling your grandmother’s wedding dress will not only give you a chick and unique look but it will also help your budget. Shopping at your local vintage store for a recycled wedding dress could be another alternative.

Simple and Beautiful
You probably heard the saying that “Less is more”. It is true! Country flower centerpieces can be fewer and lower in a long table creating an elegant and sophisticated look. Also recycling glass recipients and tin cans are a growing trend to create an eco-chic and rustic ambiance, making your celebration original. Spigot jars are so in! Inexpensive, chick and fun way to provide water drink, lemonades and cold teas.

It’s All About the Details
Somehow they can’t go unnoticed. The smallest detain makes a huge difference. And this coming year, details are even more important than ever! Everything needs to be planned from the wedding dress to the last detail. The wedding color palates for 2011 are just bright, fun and you guested, vintage. They should be carefully planned. The escort cards, place cards and guest book should be original and personalized. The tables and chairs should have your touch. Planning some type of entertainment or interaction for the end of the night is always a good idea. It could be a slide show of the coupe’s life, an exit of the bride and groom under sparklers lid by all the guest, photo booth or a fun, unique and yummy late night snack. If you do not have the time or creativity for details, think about hiring a wedding planner such as myself to transform your dream wedding into a reality.

Rustic Cakes
The cake is the highlight of the celebration right after the bride’s dress. It should be beautiful and match the wedding theme. The popular styles will continue to include various tears with elegance but a touch of rustic-chic. Butter cream will replace fondant and large sugar flowers are substituted by natural flowers and sugar glazed fruits or just fun details. A wedding cake dessert table will continue to be a hit next year.
